St. Valentine Gifts for Grandparents

by Larry E. Quicksall

Help your younger children give a meaningful St. Valentine's Day gift to grandparent. By meaningful, I mean something that the grandparent will treasure and look back on from time to time as a way of remembering how little and cute they once were. One inexpensive and meaningful gift is a handprint. First, have potpies for supper and save the little aluminum pie pans. Then go to Wal-Mart and buy a dollar box of Plaster-of-Paris, mix it up and pour it into the pie pans. When it has set-up the right amount have your kids make hand prints and carefully write their names and the year. After the handprint is completely dry, have each child paint their project and present it to their grandparents for St. Valentine's Day. Be sure and make one for each household of grandparents, so they don't get upset! (02/06/2000)
