Make a list of different
local attractions that relate with one of your child's favorite books.
For example, the local airport and a book on airplanes, or a horse farm
and a book on horses. Then read the book with your child and work in the
suggestion of going to the local airport, farm, etc. It works best to do
the activity the same day, otherwise you may forget it or your child
loses his excitement.
My wife and I recently
did this with our son and took him to our small local airport. While
there was only one airplane we could see, we were able to go right up to
it, as you can see in the photo. We all had a great time, and Aaron
still talks about it. (11/14/1999)
